Uniaxial Tensile Test

Tensile Test Setup

The uniaxial tensile test is the most common method to measure the strength and deformation properties of a material. The typical display of data from a tensile test is a stress-strain curve. From this curve, basic properties such as modulus of elasticity, yield strength, strain to failure, and ultimate tensile strength can be determined. The tensile test is performed on the Instron Model 4400 load frame and data are collected on a computer data acquisition system. Binocular microscopes are located in the lab for fracture surface inspection.
