Torsion Test

Torsion tests are performed in the lab on straight, cylindrical cross-section torsion specimens. They are installed into a gear driven torsion tester. The tester measures the twisting torque applied and the relative angular rotation of the specimen gage ends. A property obtained from this test is the shear modulus of rupture in torsion.
